WALL-MOUNTED ACCESSORIES RACK [Thinking outside the name: Towel racks made into a Hats/Scarves/Etc. rack]

When dealing with small space, all kinds of unusual ideas sprout up arising from the limitations of not always being able to incorporate standard items. This was one of those cases when floor space was not available but a need was there to be met. The family had a lot of accessories such as hats, scarves and other similar items that were being used frequently and needed an easy to reach organizer that would be accessed on a frequent basis. Without obstructing precious walking pathways, a standalone hats tree was not an option in the hall space. As it often happens, the solution was found looking upwards with layering functionalities vertically where possible.
A partial divider between the living space and the hall was already in place by the positioning of a storage box from the repurposed Alma cot.
The upper three quarters on the adjacent wall space were still unoccupied which was an instant invitation for taking an opportunity. Thus, a need for an accessories rack combined with an unused wall space received a quick design assessment and resulted in an idea that a wall attached unit would perfectly serve a double function: organize often-used items and complete a soft space divider.
A bit of research based on the available space and required function narrowed down the selection to the modern and sturdy IKEA GRUNDTAL towel racks. Additional deciding factor was the appearance of the racks tying in with the metal detailing of the existing shelving in the living area right next to the divider.
Two racks slightly spaced from each other made for a balanced look and provided a variety of levels for household members of different heights to reach comfortably.
Sets of stainless steel GRUNDTAL S-hooks in 2 different sizes improved further on the versatility of options to utilize the rack solution.

Conclusion
The end result was an aesthetically pleasing and actively functioning accessories’ organizer that proved, yet again, that even a small step outside of what a product label suggests the intended function of a ready-made item is meant to be, can pay off in unexpected ways that reward and further inspire creativity. ♦
