ADAPTABLE BEDROOM DESIGN
Timeless Furnishings
In order to fulfill the requirement for adaptability throughout the years, the versatile Shakery Kidsmill furniture collection is selected as the solid base for a design that can “grow with the child”. The collection has a great furniture range of highly functional items. The baby cot is height-adjustable and can be converted into a toddler bed or a sofa; the bunk bed can double as a sofa. The wardrobe and chest offer a good amount of storage space and have soft-closing drawer runners and door cushioning. On a smaller scale, the bedside table and toy box provide additional flexibility and mobility. A convenient desk with drawers, although not a typical item for a nursery, completes the selection and along with bookcase units defines an area for books, writing and the likes that can be utilized by the parents at the earliest stages, and soon thereafter by the fast growing child. The contemporary style of the Shakery collection is rather neutral which, along with the white finish of the furnishings, makes it an excellent choice for room transformations without a large overhaul.
An iconic Eames rocking chair in white is selected for its doubtless timeless qualities, both in appearance and function. The Ray Power table lamps are effortlessly simple and fluid in any surroundings, and the Chiasso stool and organic blanket in natural colours and made of natural materials can bring warmth and interest to a variety of schemes.
Minimalist Baby Nursery
As the starting point scheme for the room, the minimalist baby nursery takes full advantage of the simplicity offered by the timeless furnishing selections, as described above. This room is serene, fuss-free, and easy to maintain making it very appropriate for a newborn’s dwelling. Its purpose is clearly defined by the presence of the baby cot from the Kidsmill collection. A couple of stylish cushions in neutral colours is all that is needed to complete the minimalist feel of this space where the possibility of starkness is avoided by the measured use of organic shapes and warm natural materials.
Themed Child’s Room
The neutral canvas of the timeless furnishings is used to create a non-overwhelming robot-themed child’s room. This transformation is achieved quite easily and with no major disturbances nor expenses. Playful wallpaper and a large print in the robot theme are made into statement wall art pieces. A unique robot-shaped mirror subtly carries the theme on. A robot desk lamp and an actual robotic device – the amusing alarm clock on wheels – bring the robotic volume up another notch. Cushions and, certainly, toys in-keeping with the scheme are the finishing touches of choice for this look. Preppy Teenage Room
For yet another transformation to give specific character to the versatile Shakery collection, a preppy teenage space is created. A beautiful chevron pillow is an exciting groovy choice to grace the Eames rocking chair. The abstract graphic art wall piece seamlessly ties the whole space together.
